9 Time Saving Wedding Planning Tips for the Busy Bride

Time crunches. Vendor finding. Wedding dress shopping. And on top of it all you still have to manage to work full-time! Girl, you have your work cut out for you.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your wedding and kill it at your day job without losing your mind.

Here’s a few helpful time-saving wedding planning tips you can use to make your life a bit easier.

#1. Get Organized

We highly recommend a three-ring binder, complete with correspondences from vendors, any notes you take during vendor meetings, and any photos that resonate with what you want at your wedding. You can also set up a special wedding email address to use for vendor info, PayPal payments and more.

#2. Plan for mistakes

Make your schedule wiggle room proof so you don’t lose it if things don’t go as planned. And they will. Trust us. Don’t make your schedule so tight that you have no room for the unexpected. With a bit of forethought and planning, you can avoid more serious mistakes like squeezing everything into the last minute.

#3. Get a Wedding Calendar and Stick to it!

There are so many cool wedding calendars you can download that will literally make you breathe a sigh of relief. They serve as a sort of checklist so you don’t have to concentrate on each and every aspect of the planning process and forget to do something important in advance. The last thing you want is to wait until 3 weeks before the wedding to order boutonnieres or your wedding cake. Use a calendar to stay ahead of the insanity.

#4. Use Work Down-Time to Knock out To-Do Items

Arrive to work a bit earlier than you had planned and knock out a few wedding planning to-do list items. You can return emails to vendors, price check the wedding dress you’ve been eyeing, or shop for accessories on Amazon. Just use whatever extra time you have to get a little done at a time and before you know it, your checklist will be barren!

#5. Make the Internet Your Best Friend

You’ve got to love the internet. Through it you can find and book vendors, send and sign contracts, and even shop for bridesmaid dresses. Familiarize yourself with the top wedding websites and use them for inspiration and wedding-hacks to make planning even easier.

#6. Use Apps to Keep Track of Your Budget On-the-Go

Staying on budget is even more difficult if you can’t keep track of what you’ve spent. Our suggestion is to use apps to keep things straight. A goodie is iWedding Deluxe if you have the iPhone. It lets you keep track of your wedding checklist, mark off items on your budget, and alerts you when it’s time to work on the next item in your agenda. It can be a lifesaver.

#7. Delegate to a Professional

Hire a wedding planner if you can afford it. Seriously. It could save your mental sanity.

#8. Don’t Spend Time Reading Magazines

Forget about cutting photos out of magazines, you’ll end up wasting your time and there’s slim to no chance you’ll use the ideas you ‘cut out.’ Stick with Pinterest if you’re just dying to share pictures with vendors.

#9. Keep an Open Mind When it Comes to Favors

Believe it or not, wedding favors can be serious time-suckers. You can spend months trying to pick out the right one. Instead, keep an open mind. Hand-written notes, chocolates, and even magnets can be wedding favors. Just don’t try to get too crafty or you’ll lose a lot of time.

Well, there you have it. A few helpful tips for busy brides. Let us know in the comments if you’ll use any of these tips or if you have time-saving tips of your own to share!
