These Wedding Day Ideas for Your Guests will Make Your Special Day a Memorable One
While your wedding day is really all about you and your spouse-to-be, you undoubtedly want to hold a fun and entertaining wedding that everyone enjoys. Remember, your guests have sacrificed their time, and likely money, to spend the day at your wedding. Offering them a fun and lively reception is an excellent way to thank them.
So how can you do it? What are a few easy ways to keep everyone entertained? Check out a few of our suggestions below.
Comfort is Key!
Your guests may well have travelled far to be at your wedding. Keeping them comfortable on your special day is important.
Convenience is important. If you can, hold the reception at or near the wedding ceremony location. If there will be a delay between the ceremony and reception, hire caterers to provide refreshments or even consider a cocktail hour—everyone will appreciate the gesture.
Keep the Reception Program Short
Your reception is about you and your husband, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the needs of your guests. Sitting through four hours of speeches isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. It’s also possible your wedding party won’t care for it either.
While we’re definitely not saying you should scratch your plans for a slideshow, we are saying consider your audience and what they want. Try to keep your wedding reception—from your entrance until the last special dance—to 2.5 hours. Get down to partying with your guests after that.
Consider Live Entertainment
If it’s within your budget, you definitely want to consider live entertainment. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a band or a DJ, but even a karaoke setup would be amazing. You can let your guests be their own DJ or you can opt to hand it over to a pro. Whatever you do, make sure your investment is worth it by reading reviews and asking for referrals.
Have a “Kid-Zone”
For those of you who are choosing to invite families with small children, having a kid-zone is a good idea. Set up an area where kids can color, run around, and just be themselves. This a great idea if your reception might not be ‘kid-friendly’.
End with a Twist
Why go out the same way thousands of other brides have? End your night with a big surprise. It could be anything from riding off on a unicorn (yes that’s been done) or a choreographed dance routine. Other ideas include fireworks, sparklers, or food trucks. Get creative, and end the night with a bang!
Try these ideas out and see what your guests think. We’re confident they’ll thank you!
